Nana's Peonies
When my grandmother died, I dug up a couple of her plants. One was a peony that I felt was very beautiful. I planted the peony and enjoyed the fact that something she loved was growing in my yard. It is something that connects me to her spirit and reminds me of her love. At first the plants were small and there were only a few blooms. This year, the flowers are breathtaking. I have photographed them at every possible angle. The best photograph I have is the one you see here. It was just after a rain and the lighting was perfect. Nana, I miss you and love that I was able to bring a part of your spirit here to grow.
Happiness is....
I haven’t written anything for this blog lately because everything I write seems to sound like complaining. I’m sure if anyone wanted to read complaints, they could certainly find plenty of bitching and moaning blogs. What I decided to do instead was to think about what makes me happy. Who knows, maybe I will learn that it doesn’t take much to make me happy. Then again, I could find that I am impossible to please. At any rate it doesn’t matter because I am the only one who can make me happy. These are some things that make me happy. They are not in any special order. (Except for the first one)
1. My family
2. Taking pictures
3. Saturday mornings when everyone is sleeping but me.
4. Talking to my sister
5. Sunny days
6. Children
7. Being with friends
8. Sitting on a beach chair at the lake.
9. Chocolate
10. Having something to write about
11. A clean house (not that it ever happens).
12. Finishing something on my endless list.
13. E-mail because it connects me to friends and family that are not close by.
14. My flowers in the backyard.
